The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-accredited University of Florida Department of Pathology, Immunology and Laboratory Medicine Cytopathology Fellowship is a comprehensive one-year program in cytopathology that begins annually on July 1.
This fellowship provides the opportunity for advanced training and experience in all areas of cytopathology, including medical and gynecological pathology, fine-needle aspiration cytology and ultrasound-guided thyroid FNA.

Fellows are expected to participate in related interdepartmental conferences. Opportunities for and support in research activities are available throughout Program.
Molecular biology, immunohistochemistry, cytometry, in addition to other anatomic pathology facilities, are available for the study of cytopathology-related issues. Lecture series, comprehensive teaching conferences and computerized library and record retrieval are also available for those enrolled in the Fellowship Program.
Applicant Requirements
Successful fellowship candidates must be certification-eligible or certified in anatomic, or anatomic and clinical pathology, by the American Board of Pathology. Applicants are required to have passed the first three steps of the United States Medical Licensing Examination.
For International Medical Graduates
The Department requires that all IMG applicants have valid certificates from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates. The University of Florida supports J1 visas but does not support H1B visas.
Applications
Completed application packets must be received by December 1, 2014, and must include a:
- National Standard Application (or National Standard Application);
- Personal statement of interest;
- Curriculum vitae; and
- Three letters of recommendation (addressed to the fellowship director).
Interviews for the fellowship will be completed by March 1, 2015.
